Test-it
An app for managing the Israeli yearly car test
A UX case study
Overview
Many drivers in Israel describe the yearly car test to be stressful, time consuming, and an unpleasent experience overall. My goal in this project was to improve this experience by designing an app that allows drivers to keep track of tests and guides them through the process: before, during, and after the test. The app would serve the test center as well, helping testers to run the line of cars and manage documentation.

-
Test center management
For this personal project my focus was on drivers
"How might we"?
-
How might we decrease the stress for new and for experienced drivers?
-
How might we shorten the test process for users?
-
How might we improve communication between the drivers and the testers to maximize the process' efficiency?
-
How might we benefit users after the test is done?
What solutions do drivers use today?
-
Consult with friends or mechanics when feeling insecure
-
They take the day off to go to the center when there are fewer cars in line
-
They pay mechanic to take the car to the test for them
There are no existing apps for managing the car test in Israel
In other countries the test is often done by mechanics in specialized garages

I want to understand better where to go and what I need to do
So that I don't make any mistakes"
Judith Harosh, 24, student in TLV

"As a tester with 15 years of experience
I want to communicate easily with drivers
So that I don't tire myself yelling instructions all day"
